MERCEDES BENZ: LEFT BRAIN-RIGHT BRAIN ADS

We just came across there Mercedes Benz Feb 2011 ads and they are refreshingly creative and unexpected in the auto industry. The ad text reads:

LEFT BRAIN:

I am the left brain. I am a scientist. A mathematician. I love the familiar. I categorize. I am accurate. Linear. Analytical. Strategic. I am practical. Always in control. A master of words and language. Realistic. I calculate equations and play with numbers. I am order. I am logic. I know exactly who I am.

RIGHT BRAIN:

I am the right brain. I am creativity. A free spirit. I am passion. Yearning. Sensuality. I am the sound of roaring laughter. I am taste. The feeling of sand beneath bare feat. I am movement. Vivid colors. I am the urge to paint on an empty canvas. I am boundless imagination. Art. Poetry. I sense. I feel. I am everything I wanted to be.

We represent everything that the right brain stands for. We definitely are more right brain thinkers, but there are times when we pull from our right brain for logic and calculations.. So what type of thinker are you, left brain or right brain?

    First off, these are very beautiful ads. I commend everyone involved in producing them. However, my question is…who are these ads meant for. They are very “creative” (i really hate using quotation marks), but I would like to know the creative brief, the audience, the media. Mercedes Benz already has a cache. Are these just “image” ads (there are those annoying quotation marks again). Am I, the unwashed supposed to run out a buy a Mercedes based on these ads? Are people who have bought a Mercedes supposed to feel better that they own one? And, what are the quantitative results of these ads? Has anyone done any tracking to see if what the objective was to produce these ads was met?

      We couldn’t agree more. What captivating ads! And as far as your questions, your guess is as good as ours. Of all the research we’ve done, we can’t find anything that Mercedes itself has said about these ads. …But we will keep looking and let you know if we can find some more information.

        Where can I order this as a print? I want to hang it on the wall in my design studio.

          Unfortunately I don’t think it’s available for purchase, as it’s an ad for Mercedes Benz. Your best bet would be to find the image (high-res) and have it printed yourself.
